Pennsylvania Legislature Passes S.B. 147

Category: Pennsylvania

The July 4 holiday weekend is here, and it should look very different from last year’s version for all Pennsylvania business owners and employees. Just before adjourning for the summer, the Pennsylvania Legislature passed S.B. 147. This legislation requires employers with certified safety committees to also provide employees with information related to both substance abuse and the risks of prescription drugs – and more specifically opioid – addiction. The effective date is 120 days out, and the legislation also contains language requiring the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry to develop resources to help employers comply with these new mandates. Governor Tom Wolf signed the legislation on Wednesday, June 30, making it Act 57 of 2021.

We will continue to keep you updated as this and other legislative proposals are developed in Harrisburg.
